Morality Still High

I am so proud of Kansans for taking a stand for what they believe. Leading up to the April 5th, 2005, vote on the Marriage Amendment, a few were saying that those of us who believed in godly morality were way out of step with the mainstream of Kansas society. I guess they were wrong. Kansans stepped out boldly, inspite of intimidation, and voted a resounding "YES" by an astounding 71%. This leaves 29% who started their Wednesday morning unhappy.

What I really had my eyes opened to was the real heart attitude of a few claiming to represent the whole 29%. One was the local newspaper editor who decided to "paddle" us a couple days after the election for the "mess" he said the "yes" voters had created, a second is a former Kansan who now lives in Maine who was convinced I am out of step with the mainstream (I wonder if she will admit she was mistaken?) and called me a racist bigot because I stood firmly against gay marriage, and the third was an adult male former Kansan who, for undisclosed reasons, decided San Francisco is the place to be. He said the perception of Kansans is that we are all BTKers, bombers, mother-murdering baby kidnappers, Phelpites, and hate-mongering homophobics. I think my paraphrase hits pretty close without quoting verbatim.

After getting a taste of the true nature of the heart of those who spearhead gay rights and anti-Christian propaganda, I am thankful such people are not who we are in step with. They reveal their hearts in their scathing words ... or are they revealing other hidden pain? They march to the beat of a different drum. Their ideology changes with every wind. Ours has stood the test of time for several thousand years. I think we made our point. Let's see now, since the votes have been counted, if they really believe in democracy, or if they will take it to the courts and try to further judicial dictatorship.
